Cyrus Tang Hall of China

Opened in 2015, the Cyrus Tang Hall of China exhibits over 5,000 years of Chinese history and culture as told through the Field Museum’s collection. It’s also one of the first permanent museum exhibitions to employ an entirely digital label system.

In addition to leading the internal team to develop, prototype, and design the custom labels (including software and hardware), I also guided the production of key media elements, including landscape animations of Neolithic China, a motion-graphic timeline of Chinese history, an interactive Qingming scroll, and an immersive shadow puppet theater.

Roles: Project Lead, Grant Admin, Evaluator

Thanks to significant institutional investment in technology for China Hall programming, I also spearheaded the production of the exhibition’s companion website and managed the National Science Foundation grant that allowed us to evaluate the digital rails in the early years of the exhibition.
